SUMMARY

A group of art student alumni produced a one-time art exhibition. Seeking to move beyond traditional wall labels and create a more personal visitor experience, the group turned to QuickTales.

Using QuickTales, the artists recorded short audio stories, creating an intimate connection to the visitors. The exhibition drew strong engagement, extending from a three day event to a three week run due to favorable public response.

CHALLENGE

The artists were organizing their first fully independent exhibition — handling everything from installation to promotion. With limited time, budget, and staffing, they needed a way to:

  • Go beyond static wall labels
  • Connect personally with visitors
  • Share artistic intent without being physically present

They wanted meaningful engagement that could be implemented simply and quickly.

SOLUTION

QuickTales provided a fast, low-barrier solution that fit seamlessly into the exhibition workflow.

Displacement iphone screen 3Artists as storytellers
Each artist recorded a brief audio reflection explaining their work, process, and meaning—in their own voice.

Instant visitor access
No QR codes to manage. Visitors just point their phone at an art piece to immediately hear the artist speak, creating a deeper human connection to the artwork.

Low barrier, high impact
Artists used their own phones to record. No studio time, editing software, or technical training was required.

Short-run exhibitions
QuickTales enabled the artist group to deliver a professional-grade audio experience without building permanent infrastructure.

“QuickTales gave such a simple and direct way for the artwork to speak to the visitor — in the voice of the artist.”                            Hodaya Louis, Artist & Exhibition Organizer

RESULTS

The exhibition was a smash hit!

Time Saved
The artists were able to produce their audio stories in minutes instead of weeks, delivering high-quality engagement in the short time they had.

Digital Bonus
Although the physical exhibition ended, their stories live on with quick access to an extended audience in QuickTales.

CONCLUSION

What began as a small, temporary show evolved into a professional, extended public exhibition with a lasting digital presence. QuickTales demonstrated that even grassroots, one-time exhibitions can deliver high-quality interactive experiences — simply, quickly and affordably.

BACKGROUND

This group of nine art student alumni collaborated to produce the one-time show, “Displacement, Placement, Replacement” at a local venue, exhibiting their own artwork and telling their own stories.

The collective was entirely artist self-led, managing every aspect of the exhibition from concept and curation to installation and public engagement. With QuickTales, they integrated mobile audio storytelling as a core part of the visitor experience.
